Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: se Wind Stength: 12 Surf / Sea State: choppy(sea)flat(river) Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 13 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 16.75 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 32 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
With only light winds forecast I was not holding too much hope but after
seeing last evening sea breeze kick in at 15 mph I had my fingers crossed
for a repeat!!!So after breakfast at the Dip with Mag and with 12 kts of
wind I packed my racksack, rigged the 9.4 and set off on the longboard on a
broad reach up the coast.First stop Bawdsey Martello for a few pics then on
to Shingle Street and up the River Alde where I fell in the only time all
day in the messy chop in the river mouth. Then on past the wake boarders to
Orford for a snack break and to take a pic of the castle and finishing at
the large Martello at Slaughden. After another short break it was a beat
back in a good breeze making lots of tacks in the narrow river still
against the in coming tide.I sailed the other side of Havergate Island
making it all the way around. Then out again to the open sea where there was
a good swell making it a really good beat back sailing close to the beach
!!! So approx 6hrs out and in my shortie for the first time this year !!!
There was a few kiters out at the ferry and David and Nick just going on
their formula kit but for Mark S not enough wind for his new Exocet 80
slalom board and 9.8 :(
This is what windsurfing is all about - everyone should get a longboard !!!
